Engraving the inscription
The choice of lettering depends to some extent on the type of material: with
white marble, for example, we might recommend having the letters incised and
black finish.
Our lettering can be either computer-cut, machine cut or
hand-cut in the traditional way. Computer-cut lettering offers a huge choice
of different fonts and styles and produces a very professional result.
Sometimes, though, there is no substitute for doing things the old-fashioned
way and a hand-cut letter, although it takes longer, it is
sometimes necessary to match existing inscriptions.
Our experienced staff will be able to help you choose suitable words
for the inscription, by offering alternatives and examples.
Local rules
All
municipal cemeteries have rules about the type of memorials they will allow,
mainly to do with maximum and minimum dimensions. We will be pleased to
advise what is allowed where.
Similarly, there are regulations which have to be followed in
churchyards. We are able to advise if a particular material or design is
permitted in a particular churchyard. In general though, white marble and
ceramic photographs is not permitted.
Our terms
We ask for a deposit with order. The balance is payable on completion.
Unlike funerals, monumental masonry work is subject to VAT
